HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MIAMAI

4 Years... It is hard to believe that Monica Outlander has only had Miamai open 4 years. It seems longer and yet a blink of the eye. I will never forget the day Monica hired me to be one of her store models. It was the moment that changed my SL for me. My time with Miamai was so much fun. Helping all the customers and styling the new releases was a pleasure. It was so hard to stop modeling for Miamai. I missed my fellow models and the customers. I missed showing the world how beautiful Monica's creation are. Instinctively Monica knew I still wanted to help and she allowed me to blog her creations. It is amazing to be trusted to present her items to the world with no rules attached, trusted to do them justice on my own. It is with immense pleasure to be able to say Happy Anniversary Miamai and thank you. Thank you for the beautiful creations, the laughter, and the friendship. It is my fondest wish that you will have many more anniversaries, many loyal customers and above all else satisfaction in seeing us all bring your art to life. In true Monica style, to celebrate, she gives to us the Summer of Love edition of the Mahvi pants.

In 1967 the summer heated up and over 100,00 people converged on San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district and Berkley, the core of the hippi movement, this convergance of people happened all around the world as young adults threw aside the constructs of previous generations and lived how they wished to. That summer is seen as the pivotal moment when a shift accurd in the dynamics of american thinking and suddenly hippies came to the forefront. Creative expression, art, music, freedom of thought, and yes free love drove an entire generation and the ramifications of that summer are still reverberating through society today. It is as though Monica captured the soul of that summer, The Summer of Love. This edition of the Mahvi Pants, like their namesake are versitle and fun, great for pulling over the top of a favorite bikini or with a silk blouse. Throw on your big floppy hat, bangles, and leave your shoes by the door and step out into summer.

SUMMER DREAMS

Summer it is a time of rising heat and less clothes. It is a time for exploration and individuality. Coffee with the friends in the piazza at the favorite caffè after a morning spent shopping and exploring all the wonderful stalls at the mercato all'aperto. Days that melt into hot nights spent dancing to the pulsating rhythms flowing out of the clubs. Women truly shine in summer. We let our hemlines creep up, pull our hair back and allow our inner nymph out to play. For me the ideal summer would be spent in Italy. When I dream of my prefect summer it is spent in a little villa putting around on a scooter exploring not only the tourist hot spots but also the places that only the locals know about. I was about 12 years old when this idea of my perfect summer took hold and I always saw myself in a little dress with a big bag and heels that cost what most people make in a month. As with most little girls dreams change and we let go of the fantasies of youth, but Italy looms in the back of my mind a constant thought. When Monica Outlander the artist behind Miamai released the Tare minidress again my perfect summer overwhelmed me and I could almost smell it, fill the heat of the sun on my face.

The Tare minidress has a flouncy skirt with a bodice ruffle which speaks of flirty fun. Her use of summer flowers takes inspiration from the season, bringing it to life in your every movement. The plunging neckline is a perfect frame for a matinee length necklace. The entire effect of the dress making you feel like a summer flower waiting for the man of your dreams to come buzz about you.

I have to admit I purchased the Alice necklace and earrings by LaGyo unsure of what I would wear it with for this season. I saw it at The Fairy Tales event and made an impulse purchase, something I honestly chide against doing. But I am glad I did. With its beautiful gems, flower buds, and leather string it is simply to adorable to pass up. I love the texture change ability so the set can match multiple outfits.

I completed the look with ::je::suis:: magnifique bangles and le printempts bag, and impossibly thin Roma stiletto shoes from Similar Italian Footwear.

PAULA & PEARLS

Poulet of PurpleMoon Creations celebrated the anniversary of her Fashion House with a Pearl Hunt. With care and cunning she placed 14 pearls around the store for her group members to find. After spending a bit of time there I took my prizes home to try on. The elegance of the gown and a certain nostalgia to a bygone era emerged as I tried on each piece. The hair, dress, and jewels reminded me of a picture taken of my mother when she was a young woman. A flowing gown pooled about her ankles, pearls at her throat, and her hair styled with care sweeping back and up into a beautiful chignon. My father stood next to her in his suit, his coat and fedora in hand. A smile gracing his face, obvious appreciation of the woman whom was his. Her beauty and style was so classical and unassuming I could imagine her reaction to seeing the Paula Gown, Pearl's Dream Jewels, and the Vin Hair, the look in her eyes speculating if she could recreate the look in the RL.

The Paula Gown is in a deep purple with delicate lace embellishment on the bodice, arms, waist, and hemline. The fabric clinging to the shoulders and arms tailored perfectly, leaving enough room at your wrist to wear a bracelet without fear of snagging the delicate fabric. This gown is form fitting to the hips then flows out in a romantic silhouette that alludes to the sweeping skirts of ballrooms. Poulet's use of a sheer drape starting right under the bust that ends right at the waist is genius, bringing another dimension to the dress by adding the empire waist at the bodice.

Now I must say every woman should own pearls. Pearls are a cornerstone to a well dressed woman. Whether they are fake or real makes no difference. As part of the hunt the Pearl's Dream Jewelry Set was included. The necklace is a triple strand resting beautiful against the skin. The diamond flower broach attached to the pearl strands is both traditional, and yet progressive with silver stamen emerging from the flower with a delicate pearl anther. This is a complete set with earrings, bracelet, and a ring also provided in the hunt and will style well into other looks.

The Vin hair is the topper to the hunt, yes literally! This beautiful chignon is a must have in itself. How it lays on the nape and then the topped teased and smoothed to add a dramatic height to the style is simply lovely. Thank you Poulet for such a beautiful gift on the Anniversary of PurpleMoon Creations!

To complete the look I paired the outfit with a pair of Similar Annabell Shoes and opted for dark red lipstick, smokey cat eyes, and nice dark red manicure.

KALINDI & SABYN

EarthStones released the Kalindi Jewelry this past week and rarely does a set say buy me now. This one screamed it at me, it turned me upside down and shook the Lindens from my pockets. One would think a sudden attack of spending brought on by a necklace would leave that person terrified or at the least questioning their sanity. But no it didn't, instead I found myself smiling and thinking the jewelry was simply perfect. Finally I had the necklace for my new dress. Then Tres Beau released the Sabyn outfit and I changed my mind. Obviously I was wrong and Sabyn was the perfect outfit for the Kalindi Jewelry Set. Again I ran off to spend my hard earned Lindens. With a content smile I went to work only to be called Jasmine. I stopped a moment and looked at my hair style, the clothing, and my bare feet only to realize that indeed I was a blonde Jasmine. Isn't it ironic and yet some what comforting that even as we grow older memories of the stories we watched, read and heard as children and young adults linger with us. These memories popping up to the front of our minds unexpectedly or subconsciously, as is the case of my styling this look, guiding me to recreate one of the characters I loved the most.

The Kalindi Set is very well crafted and Abraxxa has offered 5 different stone combinations. Each set is metal change with three choices. I have it set to gold for this look but both the silver and brass are as equally beautiful. The scripts are low lag and deletable which is a good thing given the lock down on scripts everyone is enforcing. Take the time to stop by EarthStones and explore the new room that focuses on a Gypsy/Boho inspired sets.

Tres Beau released Sabyn, which is a lovely mesh outfit with a clothing layer undershirt. It comes in three color choices and to choose just one is very hard. Most likely I will be buying the other colors very soon. The harem pants are well shaped hanging comfortably on your hips. The top is a loose cover shirt breaking from the traditional and expressing individuality. Truely allowing yourself to feel like a headstrong, adventurious Princess of Persia.

OVERHEMD & DAS

Epicosity introduced a new release, the Folded Cuff Shirt and Skinny Tie. The shirt comes in 9 colors and the tie has 30 different patterns to choose from. Both the shirt and the tie are well made and draps the body nicely. I have to say the packaging the tie comes in kept me entertained with how unique it is. Yes sometimes I am easily amused. Both the shirt and tie are offered in Epicosity's signature Pudgy Packs. One of the things I appreciate is the alpha's Epicosity offers. Taking into account that not everyone is willing to leave other viewers yet Epicosity has made alphas that are for pants, shirt, and shoes all in one. Well thought out and appreciated. Be Epic.... Make Him Over Hunt, one of the epic hunts for men in SL... how could we not join in the fun? To be completely honest Zarolin and Kalia have been known to make male avatars just for this hunt. This year though Kiba designed an amazing jacket that can double as a shirt, the Derp Jacket / Derp Shirt. So in Zaro's wisdom she made a special color and hid it just for the Make Him Over Hunt. With a big smile she pulled it out of the closet, pressed it nicely, and placed it in the box just for all of you to find.
