BABY ITS COLD OUTSIDE

On cold winters night as Christmas fast approaches the thoughts of finding your way home during the snow storm stops you at the door. Your hand on the knob as he wraps his arms about you, his fingers gently playing with the rubies he placed about your neck. "Its cold outside" he whispers and you feel your resolve about leaving fading away. The soft fur rug and pillows look so warm and inviting placed in front of the hearth that is crackling with fire. The wine practically glowing from the light of the flames. You realize your clothes are completely wet from the snow outside. With a smile you turn into his arms and kiss him softly slipping out of the jeans clinging to your legs. You sprawl upon the fur rug listening to him walk about the house placing your clothes over the backs of chairs to dry. Awe baby it is cold outside and so warm in here....

WAITING FOR YOU...

I saw this pose and I had to have it recreated in SL. So I turned to Dahriel the creator/owner of *PosESioN* poses and asked if he would be willing to make it for me. After he saw the original picture he agreed and it was all I could do to be patient till he was done. Now mind you I took this photo the very next day after he boxed up the pose and dropped it on me which was almost a month ago! I lost this set of photos in my computer and so that tells you what a mess I have! I was getting irritated and I knew I had to get this blog done, so I did an intense search of every file and finally found this one. MOONLIGHT BLOSSOMS

Miamai presented the new 2012/2013 Black Label Collection U N F O L D in a stunning show that immersed the audience into the scene. What a spectacular visual display as the guest were transformed into delicate moths that fluttered about as the models danced among them. As each model emerged from the cocoon it was as if another faerie was born into the world to celebrate, laugh, and love. Inspired by the show I present to you two fairies, two lovers dancing among the moths in the shimmering forest.

LADY OF THE DEAD

In Mexico and other various cultures November 1st and 2nd are celebrated as Dia de los Innocentes(Day of the Innocent) then Dia de los Muertos(Day of the Dead). It is a national holiday in Mexico and is celebrated by building private altars honoring the deceased. These altars are made with the deceased favorite foods and drink, their possessions, marigolds, and sugar skulls. On these days entire families will go to the graves of the departed leaving these items as gifts to them. Dia de los Muertos has its origins in an ancient Aztec Holiday celebrating the Goddess Mictecacihuatl, Lady of the Dead and was originally a month long celebration at the end of summer in the 9th month of the Aztec Calendar. SAMHAIN

I love Halloween. I love the traditions, the folklore, the costumes, and of course the food. Halloween as we know it has its roots in ancient Western Europe. Halloween or Hallows' Eve is the modern name for Samhain. Samhain is the end of the summer and the beginning of the time of darkness. It is the time of the year when the veil between the physical world and the spirit world is thin, a time to honor our ancestors and those whom have passed on. A time to celebrate the bounty of the Harvest and turn our attention to the wisdom and teachings of the Crone. As we near Samhain, the pagan new year, our sense of wonder grows and the child in all of us relishes the joys of guising as we plan the costumes with care. We attend the parties and laugh with the revelry that marks this amazing holiday as we give thanks for the harvest. There are those who feel a deep spiritual call to the religious implications of Samhain and they can be found in their circles alone or with their covens. Voices raised in worship and communion on this most holy of nights as Cailleach's presence in the world grows stronger dancing to her glory celebrating the coming of the darkness. Embrace Samhain and celebrate for this is the eve of Cailleach's reign and Her cold icy grip is strong forcing us to settle near our hearths to craft, study, and share stories.

MADIENE

This week Miamai released its Fall & Winter 12/13 Formal Collection. The entire collection is beautiful, and as always Monica uses her many talents to enhance her creations with color and texture. I have said it before and I will say it again, the best designers will not only embrace mesh but will also use traditional methods in combination for their creations. Monica proves this point with the Madiene gown and you will enjoy the use of mesh for the bodice and traditional flexi prims to make up the ballroom skirt. The flow of the dress is just sublime and you will appear to float as you dance and walk. With many colors to choose from you will be able to find the look that is just right for you. I went with a fall colored gown, the beautiful rust and orange colors embracing what is best about the season. As you hurry to your Fall Festival parties and dances make sure to finish your look with opera length gloves. Miamai has them in mesh colored to match her gowns.

APOTHECARY ROSE

What I love most about the hunts that provide you with a complete list of locations, is that you can do the hunt in any random order your heart desires. For me that means a straight run to any store owned by someone I know or have a deep appreciation for their talent. So when I saw Miamai listed on The Runway Perfect Hunt page I went right there. I was sure I knew just where to look based on Momo's hint. "The raven has something for you…up where the Black is." If you have ever been to Miamai you really can not miss the clues reference. When I opened the package I was most thrilled, I love the Rure shirt but I have always wished she had made it in the rose color. As you can see her rose color is a purple with a pinkish tinge reminding me of wild roses or even a Gallica Rose. The Gallica Rose is also call the Apothecary Rose and if you close your eyes, you can imagine herbalists and midwives of old walking along the edges of forests gathering the petals and fruits of the rose for herbal teas. An Apothecary is an artist just as much as any one who draws or sculpts. Their carefully prepared teas and tinctures create a desired effect on a physical and mental level helping us to heal ourselves. Which brings me back to Momo and Miamai. A true artist who carefully combines different elements helping us achieve a greater beauty on both the physical and mental levels. Like how I looped that around? But it is true. Many people are not aware that Momo is an old fashioned artist. All of her creations start with a pencil and paper then evolve into the amazing creations we wear. Knowing this about her, and her creative process, makes every item I wear from Miamai more dear to me. Well I have rambled on long enough so I pulled this look together with Erratic's mesh leather pants and N-Core shoes. Now off to feed that hunt addiction of mine....Happy Hunting!

HUNT ADDICT

The Runway Perfect Hunt started on October 1st and runs through the 31st. I must admit I have several guilty pleasures and one of them is hunts. I just love them. I love trying to figure out the clues. I love seeing what designers create for the gifts. I love unpacking the boxes because each one is a surprise. I have also tried very hard to put myself in a self help situation by avoiding hunts. They have a bad habit of exploding your inventory and pushing you closer to mythical numbers like 100K. I am so close it is scary! I completely blame hunts for the size of my inventory and not my shopping habits! *coughs lightly* Well anyways where was I. Oh yes. I was headed to Purplemoon Creations to find a specific item and ignore any of the signs she has up. I landed and stepped aside to let the store rez in. There right in front of me, bigger then life, was her copy of TRPH Board. @#&$&*#@!!! I looked at it. I turned my back. Then I sighed, the damage was done. I had to know what was in the gift. I clicked the sign and received the folder. Soon my browser was open and two clicks later I had the complete store list in front of me with the slurls, and the hints. Slowly I was scrolling down the list reading who was in the hunt knowing I was lost. I would be doing this hunt. Dang it so much for my self help and curbing my hunt addiction. I must say this is all Poulet's fault and I completely forgot my original purpose for going there. I sat pondering the hint, "They will keep your feet warm this winter." Socks? Slippers maybe? I searched the store until I saw it cleverly placed with an item that indeed would keep your toes warm in foul weather. I bought it for 0L and ran home to try it on. I slipped on the Trinity dress and smiled pondering what to wear with it when the other aspect of being addicted to hunts reared it's head for me. Shopping to style with the hunt item...yes it is a true complete addiction. Needless to say I lucked out and the only item I had to purchase was shoes and the perfect shoes just happened to be on sale at N-Core. Now I had a valid reason to shop that sale! I need intervention....

In steps my loving and patient accomplice, I mean husband. Riot has a single minded pursuit of male fashion that leaves me in awe. Instead of helping me concur my addiction, he feeds it. As usual he must look his best and even on a hunt he takes great care in deciding what to wear. I just love how my man styles. So off we will go hunting with him looking very handsome in his Epicosity Suit. Okay maybe we will go dancing instead. No I want to do this hunt! Then go dancing!

Now I am going to point out that this is something every woman should have in her wardrobe. If you have not bought yourself a little black dress yet head right to Miamai and get one. AUTUMNS BEAUTY

It is barely September but in the mountains the leaves are already starting to show their true colors. Many live their entire life not realizing that the green color of the leaves is the chlorophyll and that the only time we see the true beauty, their individuality, is in the fall. I love the seasons as the year rolls along, because each is a reflection of the cycle of life. It is my firm belief that as we age and enter our own autumn we like the trees, show how amazing and beautiful we are.

One of the trends for this fall is shift dresses and tunics. I love how the Maitreya Xarra Tunic is simple in its design yet extremely stylish with the belt pulling it in at the hips. THE ENCOUNTER

Vintage Fair 2012 is up and running until August 29th. Chic Management has brought together some amazing designers this year. I started hunting through the various shops and found oOo Studio. Now any blogger, model, or photographer will tell you that poses are like some addictive drug, and you end up trying every single one in the store. I am glad I did. I found this pose called Argentine and immediately had visions of Spanish style gowns with Riot in a tux. I could not have been more wrong. Obviously I ended up "mostly Naked" in Riots arms with him dressed to the nines in an Epicosity Suit. RAWR. I had bought Belleza's Betty skin at the Vintage Fair and decided to stand in the back yard and get a good look at the detail. Off went the mesh dress from Ison and then suddenly he was next to me. One thing evolved into another and soon we had the pose out and he was building a room around us. Shocking what happens in SL. I must say though that the overall effect leaves much to the imagination and takes your mind to the romance of a bygone era. Was it a moment of waiting for her man to come home? Did he catch her dressing for a night out and swept her into his arms? Let your own imagination decide and take the time to go explore the Vintage Fair.

The following shots showcase the makeup selections in the Belleza Betty Skin. They start with 0 and proceed in order all the way to 9. Both Riot and I are wearing Ikon Eyes. I am wearing one of the newest releases, Light Aruba from the Horizon Collection. The stunning blue shade is almost hypnotic. Ikon presents these eyes in Pale, Light, Medium, and Deep. HOPE FOR EMILIA

On May 20 2012 as people lay sleeping in their beds a 4.1 foreshock rumbled through Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. Less then 3 hours later a 6.1 earth quake ripped the region apart. On May 29th another earthquake struck, a 5.9, then again on the 3rd, the 4th, and the 6th of June. The damage done can not be quantified in monetary means and the loss is not Italy's alone. Thousands of people were left homeless, 100's of historical structures completely destroyed, billions of dollars in impact on the economy, over 400 people injured and the saddest part is the deaths. To be told that only 26 people died is false, it does not take into account the disease related and stress related deaths, not to mention those who died from hopelessness. The relentless onslaught of earth quakes in Italy reminds us that we are so fragile... that we need to cherish human life. The beauty of our Second Life is that we hold so many charity events and as citizens of this virtual world our hearts and hopes lay in the greater world. Often when standing in a charity event I am in awe of our capacity for giving as I see people donate their talents, their time, and their money to such worthy causes. It is so beautiful to see such generosity. The Hope for Emilia event has brought together some very talented people to raise money and run the many functions happening from now till August 9th. Please remember that 100% of the chairty funds raised will be donated to the victims of this tragedy. If you do nothing else go and give some Lindens, you will find boxes through out the sim to help you give to this charity.

Miamai joined the Hope for Emilia event and provided 2 beautiful versions of the Emilia Gown for the charity vendors. It is a gorgeous strapless, formal length ball gown with unique cut outs to show a hint of flesh. I fell in love with the deep wine fabric offset with a delicate green flower pattern. How Monica layered the full flowing skirt to create a shimmer to the fabric as you move was truly inspired. It comes in 6 colors but only the Wine and Red version are the Hope For Emilia gowns with 100 percent of proceeds going to help the people of the region.

In selecting a hair to wear with it I picked Miamai's Yanne which is available at the hair fair right now. This beautiful braided updo can easily transition from day to night, casual to formal and a portion of the sales are donated to Wigs for Kids.

At Collabra88 you can get the Shells & Pearls necklace and earrings by EarthStones. This set is so delicate and romantic that it was the perfect companion to the dress. The attention to detail is amazing with pearls, shells, and metal accent shells. You will feel as though Poseidon himself placed this set upon your skin.

TROPICAL BEACHES

It is time to head to the beach and strip down to almost nothing. Miamai recently introduced the 2012 swim wear line. Every piece is wonderful and I love the mesh Monica has introduced with it. I especially like the little mesh bows on the Bala Bikini I am wearing. As usual her textures are amazing; this year she introduces the Bala(shown), Jennie, and Deanna bikinis; including 2 full mesh offerings, the Joule bikini and the Oula one piece. Make sure to take a look at the Rita, Maba, and Andrea sunglasses. You can find the entire 2012 Swimwear Collection in Miamai's City Wear Section. I love being barefoot and Slink has made the best mesh feet I have found so far. Easy to color, and a nail hud that lets you match to your hearts desire makes these a must have for summer. Just when I thought Slink couldn't do any better they offer a sandal add on for the mesh feet. Yes I had to buy the fatpack to match all my Miamai summer fashions!

The sim Riot and I are on is dedicated to Hawaii and has on it the replica of the USS Arizona Memorial at Oahu. When you cross the threshhold of the memorial it starts to name the sailors one by one in green text and gives you a moment of thought. They give you the opportunity to throw a lei in remembrance of fallen US Navy Sailors. It is a poignant reminder of that fatefull day that drug the United States into the war. This eventually lead to the the bombing of Japan in an atomic attack that has to this day been unparalled. I hope we on earth never see this type of destruction again.
