LADY OF THE DEAD

In Mexico and other various cultures November 1st and 2nd are celebrated as Dia de los Innocentes(Day of the Innocent) then Dia de los Muertos(Day of the Dead).  It is a national holiday in Mexico and is celebrated by building private altars honoring the deceased.  These altars are made with the deceased favorite foods and drink, their possessions, marigolds, and sugar skulls.  On these days entire families will go to the graves of the departed leaving these items as gifts to them.  Dia de los Muertos has its origins in an ancient Aztec Holiday celebrating the Goddess Mictecacihuatl, Lady of the Dead and was originally a month long celebration at the end of summer in the 9th month of the Aztec Calendar.  My model is wearing PurpleMoon Creations Sacrifice gown a fitting garment for The Lady of the Dead.
